However, just when the New Orleans Saints was becoming an NFL contender, Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, causing immense destruction in the region and forcing the team to vacate the Louisiana Superdome that they called home. However, this didn’t stop the Saints from winning an NFC South title a year later, earning the team an ESPY Award for “Best Moment in Sports” when they beat the Eagles 27-24.

Last season, the New Orleans Saints ended the 2007 season with a 7-9 record. Since the Superdome was re-built in 2006, it had sold out every New Orleans Saints tickets for two consecutive years.
